Janice Garrett and Charles Moulton return to ODC this summer to offer "Enlivening the Heart: Re-Connecting with Joy and Community through Dance." This dynamic workshop for intermediate and advanced dancers incorporates daily technique, repertory, creative process and group dialogue to spark enlivened and joyful dancing while engaging our sense of connection and community. In this time of cultural fragmentation, uncertainty and unrest, dancing together offers us a unique and vital opportunity to experience our shared humanity. This one week intensive will encourage us to awaken our hearts to the inherent states of joy and connection that we share as fellow creators and members of the human family.
Each day will begin with a 1.5 hour modern technique class taught by Garrett that will focus on strengthening technique, heightening artistic expression and building group awareness. The afternoons will include learning short segments of Garrett + Moulton repertory that will then be incorporated into a creative process that explores and enhances connection and communication between dancers and the group as a whole. Each day concludes with a group discussion, inviting a vibrant exchange of ideas among artists. This workshop is designed for dancers seeking a supportive and deeply immersive experience that encourages excelling beyond perceived limitations and performing to a more joyous potential in full community.
