In 2014 Garrett + Moulton Productions premiered The Luminous Edge, an evening-length work that featured the company’s six soloists, an ensemble of 18 guest dancers as well as seven musicians and vocalist Karen Clark led by Musical Director/Composer Jonathan Russell. The Luminous Edge examined pivotal moments in life when darkness turns to light and luminous sparks ignite renewal and rejuvenation. Featured prominently in the work was Gustav Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder –a song cycle that explores the deepest forms of human loss. While using this work as a structural underpinning, The Luminous Edge maintained optimism at its core, challenging the expressive range of the performers and bringing the audience on a visceral journey of transcendence, hope and rebirth.
